We are looking forward to a busy and exciting Autumn Term. We have lots of fun and interesting learning opportunities planned for our topics 'The Jolly Postman and Friends’ during Autumn Term 1 and ‘Them Bones, Them Bones’ in Autumn Term 2. You will find more information in the Curriculum Leaflets which will be available below, each half term.
We are always happy to welcome volunteers into our classes so if you are able to help, for example hearing children read, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Learning Logs will be sent home at the beginning of each half term with a choice of tasks to be completed at home over the course of the term. We will ask for the logs to be returned two weeks before the end of each half term so that the children have the opportunity to share their work with their peers.
Please try to read every day at home with your child. Three books will be sent home each week and these will be changed every Monday. The reading log should be used to record reading completed with an adult. If your child reads with an adult at home, at least 4 times a week, they will be rewarded with a stamp towards their Clover Award each Monday. Please help your child to learn to read and spell the key focus Common Exception Words for the week as part of their reading.
Each Friday we will send home Maths homework. This is a worksheet-based homework with a more practical activity at the bottom of each sheet. The Maths homework links in to the learning your child will have been doing in Maths that week.
PE days are Mondays and Tuesdays. Please ensure that you child has a full indoor/outdoor PE kit in school for the half term. All items of clothing should be clearly labelled with your child's name.
The Values for Autumn term are as follows:
September - Respect
October - Unity
November - Tolerance
December - Thoughtfulness
Please complete a green leaf with details of how your child has demonstrated a particular value and we will share this in our Values Assembly.
We are looking forward to working with you to support your child’s learning journey in Year One. If you have any questions, queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your class teacher.
Many thanks
The Year One Team

An E-Safety Sack will come home. Please share the story at home. 'Chicken Clicking' is the first story which outlines that children may not be talking to who they think they are.
