Welcome to Year 1! Please find below information about your child's learning topics this term, including learning logs and topic leaflets. Please see our specific class pages for photos and information about each classes individual learning journeys.
We are looking forward to a busy and exciting Autumn Term. We have lots of fun and interesting learning opportunities planned for our topics 'Jolly Postman and Friends’ during Autumn Term 1 and ‘Them Bones, Them Bones’ in Autumn Term 2. You will find more information in the Curriculum Leaflets which will be available below, each half term.
We are always happy to welcome volunteers into our classes and hope that this will soon be able to resume again. If you would be interested and are able to help, for example hearing children read, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Learning Logs will be sent home at the beginning of each half term with a choice of tasks to be completed at home over the course of the term. We will ask for the logs to be returned two weeks before the end of each half term so that the children have the opportunity to share their work with their peers.
Please try to read every day at home with your child. The reading log should be used to record reading completed with an adult. If your child reads with an adult at home 4 times a week they will get a tick towards their Clover Award.
Each Thursday we will send home Maths homework. This is a worksheet based homework with a more practical activity at the bottom of each sheet. The Maths homework links in to the learning your child will have been doing in Maths that week.
We are looking forward to working with you to support your child’s learning journey in Year One. If you have any questions, queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your class teacher.
