Happy Easter everyone! We have made it to the holidays and we just wanted to let you know that we are very proud of each and every one of you and we miss you all so much. Although it's a strange world we are living in at the moment, well done for having a go at our online learning and a special shout out to those who are challenging themselves daily on Rock Stars. You are doing an awesome job!
Over the Easter break, eat lots of chocolate, enjoy spending time with your family, help out around the house and most importantly, remember to BE KIND. We will be back on Monday 20th April with more online videos for you every day. We will be thinking of you all and hope you and your families are all keeping healthy.
Take care everyone.

Then you can play any of the games with this week's spellings. Enjoy. We'll let you know who our top players are tomorrow.
Welcome to Year 4 at Derwent Road. Please find below information about your child’s learning topics this half term, including topic leaflets. Please see our specific class pages for photos and individual class learning journeys.
British Values Day
On British Values Day, the whole school were learning about being a democracy. In Year 4 the children were organised into four political parties who were campaigning for £100 to spend on a box of activities to undertake as part of our Enrichment afternoons. The four groups were Yellow - Rapid Recipes (a variety of healthy snacks to make), Blue - Mess Makers (Creative Crafts), Red - Smarty Pants (strategic games) and Green - Calm Kids (activities and crafts to promote mindfulness).
The four parties made their speeches in assembly and then every child in the school voted. The winner was ............. The Blue Party. Look out for the Creative Craft enrichment box coming soon.
Spelling tasks and a maths activity will be handed out every Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday. This will start on Friday 13th September 2019.
Reading books come home daily. Children should read with an adult as often as possible but at least 4 times per week.
Times Tables - Year 4 children are expected to know their times tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of the year. Children will sit a standardised government test in June 2020. In preparation for this, please help your child to learn their times tables. Timetable Rockstar logins are in the front of planners. Look out for weekly battles!
