Allergies

If your child has a diagnosed allergy or is undergoing allergy testing/monitoring please ensure that the school has full details to ensure that we can support your child correctly.  You will be asked to complete an Individual Healthcare Plan (IHP) with your class teacher and the SENDCo.  The IHP document details the allergy and outlines the medical steps taken in the event of a reaction.  We are accustomed to supporting children who have auto-injectors.  If appropriate, and with your permission, we may share details of your child's allergies with parents in your child's class.

We work closely with our catering team in managing allergies.  Our lunch menus have the 14 most common allergens identified.  Where possible a close suitable alternative which is suitable for your child is provided.  Where a close alternative is not possible a compliant meal is offered. The Kitchen Team are available to discuss adaptations.

In line with guidance from Allergy UK the school does not 'ban' allergens from school as a free from environment creates a false sense of security and does not safely prepare children for environments where allergens may be present. Instead we educate children to be aware of allergies and the importance of hygiene.

When packing lunches, we discourage inclusion of the most common allergens.
