Robin's Class Page
Welcome to Robins Class at Greenleas Derwent Road. Both myself, Mr Pearce (Class Teacher), and Miss Howley (Class Teaching Assistant) are pleased to welcome you to our class page. Please come and talk to us to discuss your children's celebrations, achievements and we are happy to answer any questions that you may have. Please find below a photo learning journey that shows some of the exciting activities we have been getting up to.
We had great fun on our Transport Wow Day looking at different types of transport. We made our own hot air balloon, bottle rocket and also cycled our bikes and scooters on the playground. In the afternoon we launched our rockets on the field - they went very high.
We have had great fun this science week looking at our topic 'Going Faster'. We have talked about and investigated friction as well as making our own car. We had great fun on Thursday when a dragster came in from Santa Pod and we got to have a look around it and some of us got to get inside.
We had great fun on our Penguin Parade Fab finish completing lots of different activities on the theme of penguins. We recycled our old kitchen roll tubes in to penguins; we made Penguin hats and also enjoyed talking about a penguin life cycle. At the end of the day our parents came in and we sang them our songs we have been learning about in Music - Growl Growl Stomp and Penguin Parade!
Thanks to the Parents and Families for all of their hard work and support so far this year. Have a great half term and we all look forward to our next topic - Kangaroos and Koalas.
We have had great fun in PE learning lots of new routines and moves in Gymnastics.
Robins Venture Out in to the Snow
After the current snow fall we decided to spend some time out in the snow. The children loved building snowmen, making snow angels and running around and enjoying the seasonal weather with their friends.
We were very lucky today to have a visit from a Doctor. She came in and spoke to us about lots of things that she does at work. We spoke about how to 'catch it, bin it, kill it!' when coughing and sneezing and also about different parts of our body. She brought her special work bag and showed us her:
- Investigation light for the eye and throat
- Blood pressure monitor
Children in Need Day
We had a great fun today bringing our teddies into school with a donation to raise money for Children in Need. Our teddies watched us learn all about subtracting numbers to 10, making our own pizza recipe on the computers and also continue our phonics learning of the 'air and 'ear' sound.
British Values Day
We had a great fun on British Values Day learning all about the 'Rule of Law'. We spoke about how laws are kept in our country and who helps us to make sure we are following them. We had a very exciting visit from a police officer, where we all got to get into his police car and sound the horn. We all voted in a ballot for what Year 4 Party we wanted to win a £100 to spend on books.
We had a great afternoon when all of our Grandparents came to visit us in Year 1. We showed them around our classroom, and looked at all of the things we have been learning about. We made a split pin teddy pair and got to colour it in to take home. At then end of the afternoon we treated our Grandparents to a cup of tea whilst we sang them some songs in the hall. Once again thank you to all of the Grandparents who visited school and thanks for your continued support at home.
Science: Our Body
As part of our science topic we have been looking at our bodies. We had big sheets of paper and we drew around our body. We then labelled all of the body parts that we knew. Some of our labels included: the heart, the lungs, our eyes, our hips, our bladder, our hair, our bones and many more. See our drawings in the photo slideshow below.
Our Walk to the Postbox
As part of our Jolly Postman Topic we walked to the postbox to deliver our letters to our Grandparents to invite them to our Grandparents Afternoon. See our photos below.
