Welcome to Year 3 at Derwent Road. Please find below information about your child's learning topics this half term, including learning logs and topic leaflets. Please see our specific class pages for photos and information about each classes individual learning journeys.
This term in Year 3 we are leaning about the Ancient Egyptians. In English we will be reading and writing our own Ancient Egyptian adventure stories and writing a non-chronological report about how to mummify a body!
In History and Geography we will be learning about the Ancient Egyptian artefacts and how we can use these to learn about the Ancient Egyptians civilization. We will local Egypt on a map and research about the many ways the Ancient Egyptians used the River Nile and it's great importance. In Art and D&T we will make our own canopic jars, death masks, scarab beetles and Ancient Egyptian pneumatic systems.

11th December: Christingle Due Back
13th December: Learning Logs Due Back
12th December: Christingle Service all of Y3 and Y4 - St Barnabas Church at 6.00pm
13th December: Christmas Lunch
19th December: Christmas Party- Children come dressed in party clothes
22nd January: Shakespeare theatre production - Children come dress in all back (top and trousers/ leggings/ jeans). Parents' welcome at 2.35pm in school hall.
9th February: Tudor Banquet- Children come dressed as Tudor royalty- Children only
28th March: Easter production- Y3 parents' welcome at 9.15am
