Healthy Schools: Healthy Eating Policy
Greenleas was the first local school to obtain this award.
It is a National Standard which sets out guidelines to encourage an improvement in children’s health & achievement. Holders of the award have to demonstrate a commitment to promoting good health and citizenship and the positive benefits this brings.
Initiatives at Greenleas include:
- Healthy snacks at playtime rather than sweets / biscuits
- Personal water bottles to encourage children to drink more fluids
- Walk to School days
- Fruit Days where each class takes turns to bring fruit to school for everyone to share
- Fruit for all in Key Stage 1 and Early Years children - every day
- Healthy Schools Week - a programme of events for all the family.
School Meals
The school has made a commitment to raise the standard of school meals and to provide fresh healthy food each day. Mrs Tyas, our school cook, makes delicious meals each day in the school kitchen. They offer a balanced and varied diet. A menu is displayed in the hall, and a sample menu may be downloaded. Alternatively, a packed lunch may be brought to school. Parents are welcome to come along and try a school meal at any time.
The cost of school meals is advertised in the School Office.
- Please pay weekly or half termly, on a Monday only, unless the child is absent and then money should be sent on the first day in school.
