The Greenleas School Day

Early Years - There are 2 sessions for Early Years children. Older children (approx 4 years) attend the morning session and are known as Ducks. Slightly younger children attend the afternoon session and are known as Ducklings.

Session times are:

Early Years Ducks 8.45am until 11.45am

Early Years Ducklings 12.50pm until 3.30pm

The Main School - The school day has recently been reorganised after consultations with parents and the governing body. Due to increasing pupil numbers we have found it necessary to split playtimes and lunchtimes so that more time is allowed for children to eat their mid day meal and also to provide them with a pleasant less crowded playground environment.

Younger children 5 to 7 years - 8.45 a.m - 12 noon then 1 .00p.m - 3.30p.m

Older children 7 to 9 years - 8.45 a.m. - 12.30pm then 1 .30p.m - 3.30p.m

There is a 20 minute playtime for all children in the mornings and an additional 15 minute playtime for younger children in the afternoon.

We welcome children into school by opening classroom doors at 8.45a.m and taking the Register. Classroom doors are open again at the end of the school day at 3.30p.m. After 8.55 a.m. we ask that you enter school via the main entrance and sign the late book. For security reasons, if parents need to collect children during the school day, we request that you sign out your child at the school office.

The total weekly teaching time for children in Key Stage 1 is 22.5 hours (excluding playtimes and assemblies) and 24.5 hours for older children in Key Stage 2.

Parents are welcome to have a word with the teacher at the end of school but if you need a longer discussion, we suggest that you make an appointment to see the teacher at a mutually convenient time.
