Becoming a Governor
Would you like to be part of our successful team and make a difference?
Join our Governing Body and help to make a difference for our children at Greenleas.
What does the Governing Body do?
The Governing Body acts collectively, to support the Staff and Head and to act as a 'critical friend'.
You will be part of the team that sets the future direction of the school and decides how the school’s budget should be spent. You will make decisions on matters such as performance targets, school policies and the school’s development plan. You will monitor the impact of policies and oversee the use of the school’s budget and respond to inspection recommendations.
More information can be found here.
Why me? Do any of these statements apply to you?
- I have some spare time and want to make a positive contribution.
- I am a good team player.

- I want to put my time, skills and experience to good use.
- I want to make a difference.
- I want to develop some new skills.
Parent Governors (see our leaflet on Becoming a Parent Governor) are elected by other parents in the school and must have a child attending Greenleas, but we also have Community Governors, Local Education Authority Governors, Staff Governors and Associate Members.
More information about the categories can be found on this site. At Greenleas we maintain a database of people who would like to join our Governing Body.
We’re keen to involve people of all ages and cultural backgrounds and we aim to reflect the school’s community on our Governing Body.
A fresh perspective and team work are what matters most; we are keen to hear your views and learn from your perspective…..
