The International schools award

The ISA supports schools to develop:
International Schools Award• An international ethos embedded throughout the school
• A majority of pupils within the school impacted by and involved in international work

• Involvement of the wider community

Sing Up Award : Singing Benefits Everyone

Singing is fun and has lots of real benefits for individuals and organisations – physical, social and developmental. Greenleas achieved this award in 2009.
Sing Up AwardSinging can:
• bring a school together and create a unified experience for students and staff
• mark significant moments in school life: holidays, festivals, summer events, group welcomes and farewells
• help the school to work with parents and the wider community
• improve learning and encourage pupils to sing, which can enhance their enjoyment of other subjects.
For the whole school, singing provides a creative outlet and builds a greater sense of community and social cohesion.
For individuals, singing can build confidence, foster individuality, improve social skills and create more positive attitudes.
The gold award is recognition of development in:
• People: encouraging everyone in the school to find their voice.
• Skills: developing confidence and competence in singing skills.
• Choice: providing opportunities for children to compose and enjoy a diverse range of repertoire.
• Context: supporting the wider curriculum and school development aims.

Artsmark provides a benchmark for arts provision that encourages schools to consider the opportunities they offer in art, dance, drama and music.

The award

• raises the profile of arts education

Artsmark also:
• encourages, promotes and spreads good practice in providing arts education
• encourages schools to evaluate how their arts curriculum is delivered
• encourages schools, artists and arts organisations to work together
• encourages continuing professional development for teachers

Basic Skills Award

The Quality MarkThe Quality Mark is awarded to organisations working to improve the basic skills of children, young people and adults.The award underlines Greenleas’ commitment to providing all our children with the basic skills for learning – especially in literacy and numeracy, and it enforces our special needs policy of supporting children in the early stages of key stage 1.

Healthy Schools Award

Healthy Schools AwardGreenleas was the first local school to obtain this award.
It is a National Standard which sets out guidelines to encourage an improvement in children’s health & achievement.

Holders of the award have to demonstrate a commitment to promoting good health and citizenship and the positive benefits this brings.
Initiatives at Greenleas include:
• Healthy snacks at playtime rather than sweets / biscuits
• Personal water bottles to encourage children to drink more fluids
• Walk to School days
• Fruit Days where each class takes turns to bring fruit to school for everyone to share
• Fruit for all in Key Stage 1 and Early Years children - every day
• Healthy Schools Week - a programme of events for all the family.

Sports mark

Sports markSportsmark is awarded where at least 90% of pupils across the school do at least 2 hours high quality PE and school sport a week. Greenleas has a high commitment to sports activities, not only during the school day, but before and after school as well. Link to clubs and activities page. Linslade Greenleas FC is awarded Charter Standard

FA awardLinslade Greenleas FC was pleased to be presented with the FA Charter Standard by James Slack, County Development Officer with Beds FA.

charter standard awardWhen presenting the award, James congratulated Linslade Greenleas on achieving the required standards in such a short space of time. James explained that the prestigious Charter Standard is only awarded to Clubs who can meet standards of excellence in a number of areas such as child protection, coaching, codes of practice and administration. Rob Brown (on right of picture) , who accepted the award on behalf of the Club said “It’s a great honour and rewards the efforts of so many people. We are proud of our standards of fair play and we treat every player equally, not just those who are the most talented.
